So it turns out you need to pay for storage on these blogs....Bandits don't pay for nothing so here is a our new blog for 2011

************************

Bennies Bandits™ originated from a small group of elite riders who rode the infamous Suzuki “Bandit”. Made of twisted steel and sex appeal a couple of these young outlaws decided to embark on a world tour of epic proportions armed with nothing but the packs on their backs, an eager curiosity to see the world and a trusty digital camera. This blog captures some of the many moments from their journey…

Lisbon - Sunday 25th March 2012

Finally we got some sun! We had a loose plan to pop over to the other side of the river to a stretch of white sandy beaches, but were promptly told by the tourist information office that it would be impossible because of the half marathon that was happening in the city that day.

Hash? Coke?

So plan B, we took a train to the seaside town of Cascais, 30km west of Lisbon. It is a cosmopolitan suburb and one of the richest municipalities in Portugal. The former fishing village gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Many noble families built beautiful mansions in Cascais, as can still be seen in the centre and surroundings of the town.

It was hot and sunny and that’s all we cared about, we wandered around the little town before getting some lunch in one of the outdoor cafes followed by ice cream on the beach. So nice to get some proper heat!

We spent the rest of the day there, and then took a train back to the city, picked up our bags and took a packed bus to the airport to fly all the way home.

Highlight: Beautiful beaches and sunshine, can't help but put you in a good mood

Lowlight: Getting back to the flat soooo late for a Sunday night, but on the other hand we were coming home to our own place!

Interesting Fact: Because Portugal remained neutral in the second world war, Cascais became home to many exiled Royal families, including Spain, Italy and Hungary.
