Bennies Bandits™ originated from a small group of elite riders who rode the infamous Suzuki “Bandit”. Made of twisted steel and sex appeal a couple of these young outlaws decided to embark on a world tour of epic proportions armed with nothing but the packs on their backs, an eager curiosity to see the world and a trusty digital camera. This blog captures some of the many moments from their journey…

Malta - Monday 21st Nov
Our last day in Malta. We had a sleep in, packed up our stuff and headed to Mdina, which is the old capital of Malta. Mdina is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the centre of the island and is commonly called the "Silent City" by natives and visitors. The town is still confined within its walls, and has a population of less than three hundred. It was pretty silent, i.e. no one else there. We had a wander, saw some old buildings and then left.
We felt like we hadn’t explored St. Julian’s properly due to parking issues so we tried again. It wasn’t much easier but we got there in the end. We again just wandered round, and stumbled across the one of the weirdest things we had seen in a long time. A Duck village, imagine all the rubbish that gets dumped into the harbour and then someone has built a little village for ducks, guinea pigs and rabbits to live in. It STUNK. TO make matters worse, it even has its own website….some weirdoes out there.
Then it was time to get back to the airport and fly home to our little slice of paradise in London. We were pretty relaxed, but the trip probably could have been a day or 2 shorter.
Highlight: Landing at Heathrow and getting the tube home, faster and cheaper!
Lowlight: Being bored and waiting for the plane.
Interesting Fact: On a child's first birthday, in a tradition that still survives today, Maltese parents would organize a game known as il-quċċija, where a variety of symbolic objects would be randomly placed around the seated child. These may include a hard-boiled egg, a Bible, crucifix or rosary beads, a book, and so on. Whichever object the child shows most interest in is said to reveal the child's path and fortunes in adulthood.
