************************

Bennies Bandits™ originated from a small group of elite riders who rode the infamous Suzuki “Bandit”. Made of twisted steel and sex appeal a couple of these young outlaws decided to embark on a world tour of epic proportions armed with nothing but the packs on their backs, an eager curiosity to see the world and a trusty digital camera. This blog captures some of the many moments from their journey…

Ljubljana - Monday 2nd Jan

Now Lou always does the most extensive research when planning these trips and to be honest it was a struggle to find any information at all about the ski fields in the Ljubljana area. So some of the details were a little sketchy but we managed to end up on the right bus to Krvavec Ski Resort, about an hour's bus out of the city. It is the second largest Slovenian ski resort and its first lift was open in 1958. It has a staggering 30km of runs!

So we got dropped off in this car park and the weather was not looking so great, very overcast and grey. We caught the gondola up the mountain which seemed to take forever and then found ourselves in the middle of the ski field! We got ourselves some rental gear and hit the slopes, Hamish on a snowboard and Lou on her trusty skis. Hamish re discovered his form from 14 years ago on Rainbow, and soon we were up on the chair lift. The weather kinda sucked really and the visibility was really bad which is a bit scary when you don't know the runs very well, as Louise found out when she went up a chairlift by herself and got off and promptly got back on again because she didn’t know if she was going up or down! We had lunch at one of the 8 cafes on the mountain where we got a big bowl of bean stew with sausages which was just what we needed to warm up, followed by a hot chocolate and a big traditional cream custard square thing.

We tried to ski again after lunch but it was getting silly so we sat in a pub and kept warm before hopping down on the gondola back on our bus home. Even though we didn't do a full day skiing we were shattered and decided to have dinner in our hotel which was fine, albeit very quiet!

The next day was spent getting back to London, we had such an amazing time on our holiday, the people were really friendly and everything was just too easy. A great start to 2012!

Highlight: Getting back on ski's for the first time in 4 years and not loosing it.
Lowlight: The weather! Would have been mint if it was sunny.
Interesting Fact: The first run was opened on this mountain in 1958
