We had a bit of a sleep in this morning but Lou couldn't sleep so she got up and watched the cruise ships come in. Amazing how massive they are!
We had another tourist gimmick experience lined up this morning - a leather factory, in a random shopfront on the side of the road, we were ushered into a dark room with a glad of apple tea and then treated to a fashion parade of all the different kinds of leather jackets you could imagine. It was almost painful how awkward it was.
Some of the jackets were really cool until we saw the prices and we high tailed it out of there, again sitting in the sun while we waited for everyone else.

Our main destination today was Pamukkale. Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a city that contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. As recently as the mid-20th century, hotels were built over the ruins of Heropolis, causing considerable damage. An approach road was built from the valley over the terraces, and motor bikes were allowed to go up and down the slopes. When the area was declared a World Heritage Site, the hotels were demolished and the road removed and replaced with artificial pools. Wearing shoes in the water is prohibited to protect the deposits.
We walked through the site which also contained ruins but after seeing Ephesus, these looked really unimpressive. The whiteness of the terraces was blinding, and it was such a hot clear day. We wandered down the terraces, the surface was actually quite sharp and jagged so it felt like you were getting a foot massage with pumice. It was stunning though. The best part however, was the other tourists.

I would say they were about 80% Russian and they love their glamour poses…man they love glamour poses. We tried to replicate some but we couldn’t quite get it.
It was a long afternoon so when we made it back to our hotel we chilled by the pool again, before another huge buffet dinner and bed.
Highlight: The pools were amazing, really beautiful
Lowlight: The heat got a bit much…hello headaches. And our hotel was a bit rubbish this time.
Interesting Fact: The calcium terraces are what the pink and white terraces would have looked like if they were still around.
